That’s right,
NO you didn’t just dream it.
If there’s one thing Yuck ‘n Yum really likes, then it’s zines. Our own particular effort has featured a lot of fantastic art over the years, but now we think it’s about time that YOU had a go at zine production for yourself. We want to hear from anyone out there with a proposal for a zine, and the content is entirely up to you: black and white or colour, text or image, photos or drawings… as long as your ideas are good.
We require a 300-word proposal along with a CV, 6 example images and any specifications such as the rough budget, the size and the colour required. Send this to us at zine@yucknyum.com and you could be seeing your zine being published and distributed by Yuck ‘n Yum.
The deadline for your proposals is the 11th of November!

We’re going to be presenting a collective Yuck ‘n Yum manifesto at the third AHM symposium this Saturday! The talks start at 11am in the DCA Cinema.
You can book a place to see the talks here: http://www.dca.org.uk/Whats-on/talks-and-events/state-of-play-art-and-culture-in-scotland-today.html
Thanks so much to everyone who attended the AGK! Super special special big time thanks to all who sang and made videos! Congratulations to all the winners!
Best Video: “You Can Call Me Al” by Joe Howe and Lachlan Rattray
Runner Up Video: “Roll With The Punches” by Ali Smith
Best Performance went to Stuart McAdam and runner up performance went to Morgan Cahn. Andy Sim won the Fleet Collective prize and Catrin Jeans and Sarah Messenger won the Hannah Maclure Centre mini micro residency.
We look forward to doing it all over again next year – so get planning your video now! Check back over the next few days as we add all of this year’s videos – in the meantime, here’s this year’s winning video:
Tomorrow is our second Annual General Karaoke!
Since the original Yuck ‘n Yum Annual General Karaoke a year ago, the event has taken on an almost mythological status. Did it really happen? Were you really there? Shut up, you’re just trying to look cool. And anyway, all that’s in the past.
September 2011 is here so that means it must be time for AGK 2. Bigger and better, with even more spectacular karaoke performances. Prizes! Dancing! Art! Bonnie Tyler, possibly! Yes, it’s all here, and we sincerely hope that you are too. This Saturday, the AGK 2 is going to make all your art and karaoke dreams come true.

Yuck ‘n Yum would like to thank Superclub in Edinburgh for hosting our first launch outside of Dundee. It was a fab night and great to get a glimpse of a thriving Edinburgh art scene. We would also like to thank Embassy for slotting us into their Annuale programme, we really appreciate it. A MASSIVE shout out also goes to everyone who stopped by to pick up a new issue. And last but not least thank you to DJ Bob Cassette hour, MILK, Alex and Ben for keeping us entertained.
Watch this space for the announcement of the new issue online, plus pics from the night AND a list of stockists where you can grab a copy of the latest edition!

Read & download Yuck 'n Yum back issuesWe are always looking for submissions for future issues of Yuck 'n Yum. We invite anyone to submit work for consideration to submissions@yucknyum.com
Yuck ‘n Yum is a not-for-profit group and the zine is free, so work is accepted on a voluntary (i.e. unpaid) basis. By sending us your work, you consent to our publication of it in print and online. Free paper editions are available at our launches, and are sent out to several galleries and distributors (see our list of distributors, below). PDF versions are always available online for you to print out yourself.
Yuck ‘n Yum is distributed as a physical on-paper zine, but is also made available in an online edition. You can submit a single piece that will be included in both editions, or you could take advantage of the internet medium to produce alternative work for online publication. Our print edition is entirely black and white, so you could, for example, provide an alternative colour version for the online edition. Alternatively, you could send us totally different media: an audio project, a short video or animation for example. It’s totally up to you.
Format guidelines: The printed image will be black and white, and quite high contrast - bear this in mind. Each page in the zine is A5. Images should be 300dpi resolution. We prefer to receive images as jpegs (if a photograph) or pngs (if a line drawing). If you send us something low-res and we want to include it, we will probably get in touch to ask you for a high-res version before the zine goes to print. Written articles should be saved in a format compatible with Microsoft Word. If you are interested in submitting a sound piece or video work for the online version we would prefer audio work in mp3 or ogg format, and video work as a Quicktime mp4/mov file or ogg.
The deadline for our Summer issue is the 24th of June 2012.
