We make zines and distribute art

YNY is a curatorial collective who produce a quarterly art zine and host events that promote and distribute art out with a gallery setting.
YNY was created in 2005 by Andrew Maclean, who self published and distributed YNY whenever he could. In 2008 he asked Gayle Meikle and Ben Robinson to aid him in the production of the zine and develop YNY as a distribution mechanism for artists. Since then YNY has produced 13 issues [including two special editions] and hosted many events to promote artists, including Yuck 'n Yum's Art Distribution Unit, Turn Your Bluetooth On and the AGK
In 2010 Alexandra Ross alongside Graeme Plunkett were asked to join the team. Graeme was with us for one year and has now gone on to pastures new, we thank him for all his hardwork as part of YNY! We have now recruited Alex Tobin as our fifth member and Ryan Smith as our web consultant.
YNY is constantly expanding and are keen to hear from you if you would like to volunteer. Contact info@yucknyum.com with sub heading volunteer if interested.

Committee:

Andrew Maclean

Fife-born artist Andrew Maclean graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2003. He did his bit for the local arts scene serving GENERATORprojects for the obligatory two years (04-06). He returned to Duncan of Jordanstone in 2006, graduating with an MSc in Electronic Imaging in 2007. Andrew put together the first three issues of Yuck ‘n Yum whenever he had time. Yuck ‘n Yum became quarterly after Andrew was awarded funds by the Dundee Visual Arts Awards to produce four issues in 2008. Yuck ‘n Yum is now supported by the Hannah Maclure Centre, Abertay University.
You can view some of Andrew’s other work at www.axisweb.org/openfrequency/andrewmaclean

Ben Robinson

Leeds artist Ben Robinson graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2004. Since then he has endeavoured to create objects and installations that posit a variety of alternative belief systems. The work employs an obscure strategy of camp and deadpan humour to invoke the strange and the marvellous.
In 2007 he graduated from the MDes course at Duncan of Jordanstone. He has been writing for Yuck ‘n Yum, assorted other publications and his blog at 0black0acrylic.blogspot.com.

Alexandra Ross

Alexandra Ross is a curator based in Dundee. Currently she is a PhD student in curatorial practice at Duncan of Jordanstone. She studied Law at the University of Edinburgh, a Masters in Museum and Gallery Studies at St Andrews University, and a Masters of Fine Art at the University of Dundee.
Most recently, she has worked at Manifesta 7, the European Biennial of Contemporary Art, Italy; the South African National Gallery, Cape Town; and as a visiting scholar at the University of the Arts, Berlin. www.continuous-curatorial-conversations.org

Alex Tobin

Alex is an Edinburgh-based artist with a diverse portfolio of cross-media experimentation and collaboration. His practice is strongly informed by a period of study in Kyoto in 2008-09. Since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2010, he has performed and exhibited at places like the Tramway and Embassy Gallery; and has been kept solidly busy with projects like music videos, DJ’ing, and software design.
Check out his projects here.

Cover artist: Ross Hamilton Frew

Ross is a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone's Fine Art Dept from 2007 and currently resides in Glasgow. He has also undertaken Newcastle University's Art Museum and Gallery Studies course and his practice revolves around a technique of pattern making that utilises the parameters set by each surface he chooses to work upon.
You can see his work here http://rosshamiltonfrew.tumblr.com & http://cargocollective.com/rosshamiltonfrew.

Intern: Katie Morrison

Katie is a visual artist from Fife who is currently studying for an MFA at Edinburgh College of Art. She graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone in 2011, where she specialised in Fine Art. Her current practice involves intricate, black and white drawings that are not always what they first appear to be. www.katiemorrison.com
